Adulting has taught me one thing. Not to play with my brows! And today, I’m going to share all about how my eyebrows were reinvented – from miserably ruined to expressively perfect.

#1 When it comes to matters of the eyebrow, always seek expert guidance…

So many of us are guilty of taking matters of the eyebrow into our own hands.

1. In the search to achieve a perfect arch, plucking them out a little extra.

2. Aspiring a 'killer look' for your face and dying the brows too dark.

3. Then, in the struggle to 'fix' them, bleaching them too light.

The result –  ruined brows that make the face look hideous! We strangely don't feel the need for an expert until the reality of destroyed eyebrows strikes.

I was in the same boat – guilty of not seeking any expert consultation. A cheap deal was enough to risk my eyebrows. Aiming for perfect arches, I happened to get a cheap eyebrow tattoo in Singapore. And ended up ruining them.

#2 Don’t confuse yourself with DIY techniques

When you ruin your eyebrows, it’s only natural to message SOS to just about everyone. You’re bound to receive a ton of suggestions. Right from how to remove the botched eyebrows, how to fill them in with waterproof brow pomade, calling the big guns of beard dye or shampooing the brows to remove the tattoo.

All these tiring DIY techniques will simply leave you and your eyebrows confused. The worse is that you still wake up with hideous-looking eyebrows.

#3 I've learned that when you're searching for relief with all sincerity, the universe answers…

I met a friend of mine at a gathering which felt like a drumroll moment. I couldn't help but notice her amazing brows, making them my inspiration. They were nicely shaped & the colour perfectly matched her skin tone. I asked her how did she achieve such marvellous eyebrows. After seeing my friend’s Instagram-perfect eyebrows and reading up about this boutique’s experienced artists, I had to try it out without further ado! I booked a slot for myself. In the consultation, I encountered Jane. Jane is their senior artist and patience is her gift. When she saw my eyebrows, she immediately knew what type of brow-alterations I had previously done  - the traditional eyebrow tattoo. I needed to first undergo an eyebrow tattoo removal if I wished to create a new set of eyebrows. To be honest, I couldn’t wait to get rid of these hideous eyebrows and flaunt a decent arch.

I went ahead with 3 sessions first. Truelaser was used to address the nasty residue. This type of laser doesn’t damage the skin or hair follicles. Eureka! I saw the difference. After seeing the amazing results, I naturally did 3 more sessions where the awful residue was removed.

Reflecting what I've learned…

· Only allow experienced, trained professionals to touch your eyebrows.  

· Don’t be afraid to ask a ton of questions. An experienced artist will be happy to answer every question with great patience.

· For the love of eyebrows, check if the salon/brow bar is a licensed one.

· Don’t fall for cheap thrills! Don’t look for reinventing your eyebrows through 'cheap deals' that discount their work.

· If any deal is too good to be true, remember that there is always a catch.
